Rwenzori Marathon

Rwenzori Marathon takes place in Kasese, Uganda. I have worked on the 2025 and 2026 edition of the race. It attracts a large pool of East African and international runners participating in a 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42km distance. The marathon starts on the Equator and runners find themselves passing through the iconic Queen Elizabeth National Park, where they may be treated to views of elephants along the way. It then passes through Kasese town and winds its way out towards the Rwenzori Mountains, before finishing back in town.

It is Uganda's first ever World Athletics Label Marathon and is supported by government. The event contributes largely each year to the countries tourism sector.
