Mpumalanga Forestry

MPUMALANGA PROVINCE, SOUTH AFRICA: Developed as an academic thesis responding to the theme of Deconstruction / Reconstruction, this series explores the cyclical nature of the forestry industry.

Photographed across Mpumalanga, the work documents plantation landscapes, harvesting processes, and the labour involved in one of South Africa’s most significant agricultural sectors. The project highlights the scale of operations and the interaction between people and environment, illustrating how timber production sustains local economies and broader industrial networks.

Over two weeks, multiple forestry sites were photographed to provide a comprehensive view of the industry’s daily operations.
